N Series - unique versatility
The new Valtra N Series consists of six models ranging from 101 to 152 horsepower; the most versatile 4-cylinder tractors in their class. The tractor’s long wheelbase makes it particularly stable and ideal for front loader operation.
The N Series is powered by Valtra’s reliable four-cylinder Sisu Diesel engines. As a result of the high power rating achieved from a physically small engine, N Series machines have a short bonnet that is sloping like that of other Valtra tractors. The result is a combination of excellent visibility and extreme agility.
The N Series is an excellent front loader tractor and is available with the Valtra 45, 50, 55 or 65 loaders fitted during production at the factory.
There are three basic tractor versions available:
N Classic with a mechanically controlled powertrain operated with three gear levers. Mechanically controlled open-centre hydraulics.
N HiTech with an electronically controlled powertrain operated with two gear levers. Mechanically controlled open-centre hydraulics.
N Advance with an electronically controlled powertrain operated by a single gear lever. Electronically controlled load-sensing hydraulics.
Max. power kW/hp (rpm)* Classic HiTech Advance 75/101 (2200) N91 N91 81/110 (2200) N101 N101 90/122 (2200) N111 N111 86/116 (1800) N111e** 101/137106/144 ***(2000) N121 N121A 112/152118/160 ***(2000) N141 N141A * ISO 14396 ** EcoPower-engine *** Power boost (common-rail engines)
Transmission options
Three N Series versions are available, each with a different transmission type: The Classic version contains a mechanically controlled synchronised transmission. HiTech versions have an inbuilt Power Control System with provisions for electronically controlled gear changes. At the top-end, Advance models feature a single lever, electro-hydraulically controlled transmission.
N Classic transmission 24+24 (36+36 option) Classic models are equipped with a Synchro transmission. This is mechanically controlled and includes three Powershift gears and a synchronised shuttle giving 24 speeds forward and reverse. Creeper gears are available as an option giving a 36+36 transmission. HiShift – pushbutton clutch control is an option on Classic models. (standard on HiTech and Advance models) The operator changes gears using buttons on the gear shift levers - not the clutch pedal - reducing stress on the driver in a variety of operations, such as front loader work.
N HiTech transmission 24+24 (36+36 option) N HiTech transmissions have a strong, easily operated electronically controlled transmission providing very smooth gear and direction changes. HiTrol turbine clutch is an option for HiTech and Advance models up to 133 hp (not N111e). HiTrol enables a smooth start, advantageous for loading operations and on surfaces where wheel spin is likely to cause damage. A further option on N121 and N141 models is a 50km/h speed transmission with the 36+36 gears.
N Advance transmission 24+24 (36+36 option) Like HiTech models N Advance tractors have an electronically controlled transmission. Additionally, shifting in the middle-high gear range is automated making a second gear lever unnecessary and the cab layout even clearer. The N121 and N141 models are available with an optional 50km/h speed transmission and 36+36 gears.
Versatile hydraulics
The N Series hydraulics easily meet all the demands from modern implements and there are several levels of specification from which the customer can choose. Classic and HiTech models have a mechanically controlled open-centre system with a maximum output of 73 litres/minute and a maximum pressure of 200 bar.
Advance models are fitted with load-sensing valves and a variable displacement pump with a maximum output of 115 litres per minute and a maximum pressure of 200 bar. Up to four valve blocks are available, all of which are programmable including a float position.
Powerful Advance hydraulics Valtra is a leader in tractor innovation and safety. Integrated controls in the newly designed, ergonomic arm rest make control of the N Series hydraulics even easier than before. A front loader or front linkage can be controlled using the tractor’s own joysticks.
Handy pre-programmed flow rate modes provide further operator friendly functions:
1) Common mode (average output): The flow and time can be adjusted separately for each proportional valve.
2) Test mode (low output): This mode is useful when attaching an implement. Functionality can be checked safely in the test mode.
3) Maximum output: This mode is useful when speed is of most importance, such as the fast tipping and lowering of trailers or similar equipment.
Ergonomic cab
The N Series cab was developed from that of the T Series. It provides plenty of room, excellent ergonomics and with single piece glass doors visibility is excellent. The cab floor is flat and the driver’s seat can be turned 180 degrees. Additional comfort can be had from the optional, automatic climate control system.
Improved cab suspension Advance model cabs are available with an optional two-point suspension. While the front of the cab is attached to the frame, the rear cab corners are attached via shock absorbers and coil springs with a Panhard rod preventing lateral movement. This suspension reduces the impact of bumps significantly allowing the operator to drive faster in many situations. It also reduces stress to the driver’s body.
New ergonomic armrest The N Series Advance models are equipped with a completely new armrest. It has an integrated screen and joystick and controls for adjusting a variety of operations including hydraulic functions, headland management-U-Pilot, front and rear linkage, PTO, Cruise Control and Powershift are carefully arranged.
Choice of cab types Valtra customers have a choice of cab-types: Along side the standard cab Valtra N Series are available with an optional forestry cab providing increased visibility and safety when using the tractor for timber operations.
New TwinTrac generation TwinTrac is an important, established feature of Valtra tractors. This reverse drive system allows the driver to operate the tractor comfortably while facing the rear. The seat can be easily swivelled in an anticlockwise direction from the standard position to face the rear without the operator getting up.
The N Series features a new generation of TwinTrac that offers improved ergonomics on top of the excellent visibility from the reverse drive position. The TwinTrac steering column is now located closer to the centre line of the cab and there is also support for the throttle pedal foot.

N Series - Engine
New generation engine
Used also by competing tractor manufacturers Valtra’s Sisu Diesel engines are renowned for their reliability, efficiency, and fuel economy. The N Series is powered by Sisu Diesel’s new 4-cylinder Citius engines, a compact engine design that offers up to 10% more torque compared with previous engine types.
Output of the N Series engines ranges from 101 to 152 horsepower (160 hp with transport boost). The most powerful, those fitted to the N121 and N141, use Electronic Engine Management (EEM3) and common-rail injection. The N Series range also includes a low rev engine EcoPower model, the N111e, offering fuel savings of up to 10%.
Common-rail engines (Citius)
Engines fitted to the N121 and N141 use common rail fuel injection systems providing smooth running, lower noise levels and quick reaction to changes in throttle input. With an output of 152/160 horsepower the long-stroke 4.9 litre 49CWA fitted to the N141 is also extremely compact; the same size as the other N Series engines. N Series Citius engines meet Tier3/Stage3A emission standards.
Extra power and fuel savings
The two higher powered N Series models offer extra power, or transport boost. Whenever main gear H2 or higher is selected the maximum output of the N121 engine is increased to 144hp and 560 Nm torque. Similarly the power and torque of the N141 is increased to and 160 hp and 620 Nm.
A further feature of the N121 and N141 engines is a very slow idle speed. When the tractor’s handbrake is applied, the engine’s idle speed is automatically reduced to 650 rpm, further reducing fuel consumption.
Easy access for servicing
Routine service points are easily and quickly accessed. The hinged engine cover can be lifted upwards, giving free access to the cooling systems, oil and fuel filters. The new, compact, air-intake filters can also be easily reached.

Low rev engines are also more endurable, quieter and they pollute the environment less than standard engines. EcoPower in: >> T Series >> M Series >> N Series >> C Series
Front loaders
Valtra front loaders are fitted to the tractors at the factory. There are ten loader models available and lifting height varies from 3.5 to 4.75 metres. Strong loader beams with welded seams on a double U-profile as well as the downward curved cross tube ensure good visibility. All loaders are controlled from the cabin with an ergonomically positioned joystick.
Choice of Colour
Valtra is the only tractor manufacturer in the world producing tractors in different colours. As Valtra tractors are tailor-made to the customers wishes you can also choose the colour of the tractor yourself. The standard colour options available are red, green, blue, metallic red, metallic green, metallic blue, metallic steel grey and yellow.
TwinTrac - reverse drive control
With TwinTrac reverse drive controls the tractor can also work backwards. The working direction can be changed without leaving the driver’s seat.
In the reverse drive position the visibility on implement and the job is excellent and the tractor’s manoeuvrability is helped with the rear wheel steering.

50 km/h – traffic transmission
Valtra has a long tradition in manufacturing traffic tractors. The 50 km/h transmission speeds up both transport and the transfer journeys between fields that are located far away from each other. At a high speed the traffic tractor also moves more quietly and with more economical fuel consumption than normal tractors. * not available on all markets
Sigma Power – extra power
The Sigma Power feature gives extra power for PTO work. When required for PTO work, the engine will automatically produce up to 30 hp more power. This automatism is based on measurements collected on the PTO driveline. Sigma Power is especially suitable for work with implements that demand a lot of PTO power, such as choppers, round balers and rotary cultivators.

Automatic traction control and turbine clutch
AutoTraction automatically disengages the drive when the engines speed is under 1000 rpm or when the brakes are used at a speed of less than 10 km/h. When the accelerator pedal is used or the brake released the drive automatically re-engages. AutoTraction is useful in jobs that require repeated stopping and starting. The four-wheel drive engages automatically when starting off. The turbine clutch for its part ensures a smooth start also in difficult terrain and different jobs. In addition to that the HiShift – clutch control with pushbuttons saves the use of the clutch pedal.
Valtra also has long experience in manufacturing tractors equipped with ground speed.
AutoTraction and turbine clutch in: >> S Series >> T Series >> M and XM Series >> N Series >> C Series >> 6000 Series Combined hydraulics
Valtras powerful combined hydraulics technology provides a hydraulic output of around 160 litres/minute. The technology consists of a load-sensing variable displacement pump and a 70 litre oil tank in the tractor nose in addition to the tractor’s standard hydraulics.
The combined hydraulics technology allows for a steady hydraulic output regardless of engine speed. Additionally, several hydraulic implements may be used simultaneously at low engine speeds, which saves fuel and reduces noise.
The combined hydraulics flow is useful in works that demand a strong hydraulic output such as seeding or potato harvesting.

The extensive range of engine options includes the highly efficient T140e with its reduced nominal speed engine (EcoPower) while the super powerful T190 model incorporates Sigma Power.
Common Rail fuel delivery system
Engines in T170, T180 and T190 models feature Common Rail technology. This provides a high fuel injection pressure regardless of engine speed. The fuel can be delivered over several stages during a single ignition resulting in a quiet idle and a fast response to changes in load. Torque at low rpm is also improved. Valtra’s Common Rail engines also offer the
unique feature of low idle speed. When the tractor is parked with the handbrake applied the engine idle speed drops to a pleasantly quiet fuel saving 600 rpm.
SisuDiesel engines
SisuDiesel engines have a proven track record of reliability and strength and the latest series now develop even more power and torque – as high as 10% to 20% more torque than previous versions. This torque is achieved quickly at low engine speeds and can be maintained even when working speeds decrease.
Wet cylinder liners and intercooling (available on most models) provide the basis for a long lifespan, which ultimately equates to lower hourly operating costs.
Electronic Engine Management (EEM)
All T Series engines feature Electronic Engine Management (EEM), which automatically adjusts fuel injection timing according to load, speed and temperature. The result is lower fuel consumption and emissions combined with an increase in power. The EEM system on T Series also permits the optional addition of cruise control.
Transmission and hydraulics - your choice
The T Series is available with either a mechanical or electronically controlled transmission and to this can be added the choice of a mechanical or electronically regulated ancillary hydraulic system – It’s your choice.
